Foucan Academy Medical Policy
1. Purpose This Medical Policy outlines the procedures and responsibilities related to the management of medical information, incidents, and emergencies during Foucan Academy outdoor sessions, led by Sébastien Foucan. It ensures the safety and wellbeing of all participants and supports compliance with legal and health obligations.
2. Scope This policy applies to all adult participants (aged 18 and above) who attend Foucan Academy outdoor training sessions.
3. Collection of Medical Information Participants are required to provide accurate and up-to-date medical information when booking a class. This includes (but is not limited to):

Known medical conditions (e.g., asthma, epilepsy, diabetes)

Allergies (e.g., food, insect bites, medication)

Injuries or physical limitations

Medications required during class (e.g., inhalers, EpiPens)

Participants must notify us of any changes in medical condition prior to any session by email or in person.
All medical information will be handled confidentially and only shared with coaching staff where necessary for safety.
4. Medication and Emergency Action Plans
If a participant requires medication during class (e.g., asthma inhaler or EpiPen), they must:

Bring the medication to every session

Notify the coach prior to the start of the session

Participants who have specific emergency action plans (e.g., for seizures, anaphylaxis) must provide this documentation in advance.
5. First Aid and Emergency Response

All Coaches hold valid First Aid certifications.

A First Aid kit is available at every session.

In the event of a medical emergency, coaches will administer First Aid and contact emergency services if required.

A participant’s emergency contact (provided during booking) will be notified promptly.
6. Responsibilities Participants are responsible for:

Providing accurate and current medical information

Bringing required medication and ensuring it is accessible

Informing the Academy of any changes in health status

Coaches are responsible for:

Reviewing participant medical notes before sessions

Ensuring First Aid materials are present and accessible

Responding to medical incidents calmly and professionally
7. Data Protection Medical information is considered sensitive personal data. Foucan Academy processes this data in line with UK GDPR regulations. Information is securely stored and only accessed by those who need it to ensure safety.
8. Policy Review This policy will be reviewed annually or in response to a medical incident, legal change, or best practice update.
